Freebies Impact the economy

Indian economy has become high cost after opening out in 1991 about 50–60% of population requires a subsidy in terms of Food, FMCG products of discretionary consumption, Utilities power and water. Rural people require fertilizer subsidy, food for work programs, Govt sponsored relief works employment guarantees. Govt offers freebies targeting all sections of population children, students, girl child, backwards, tribes, marginalized for gaining support.

This spending is at the cost of development and other productive work. How much welfare is at the cost of development, health, education and industrialization is a matter of debate. But even the western countries have developed model catering to social security for the vulnerable. In India it is for 50% of population due to lopsided development and higher inequalities.

It is better to teach someone how to give fish so that they learn to live on their own without expecting the government all the time. When Government waives the loan amount, it is encouraging the people like to misuse the government funds. Many times people who do not do agriculture are also availing loans assuming that it is going to get waived. It is waived after some time or during election. Social Healthcare Improvement, Quality Government Education System and Support to make the farmer to do agriculture in effective ways are the need of the hour. 

Creating a Helpful Environment for the Society shall be the best way to empower the Society. Understanding the Inequality in the Social System and See the Possibility to bridge the gap by empowering the powerless is the actual goal one need to have. Second, continuously create Socially Healthy Projects to provide employment for the Poor. Third, develop and concentrate on Village Development such as water source development, roads, infrastructure, and hospitals availability for poor people are all key pointers than freebies. 

NASA recently found that in few parts of the globe, people may not able to see the stars because of the dust particles and pollution. There are lots more important priorities are there for Governments than approving freebies to people. Freebies are totally short term benefits do not help in a long run. It also impacts the economic health of the nation. People also take responsibility to say no to free goods.
