The only women who don't believe that sexual harassment is a real problem in this country are women who have never been in the workplace. 79% of Women in India faces public harassment in some form or other. Corporate has a huge opportunity to help them from social violence and also sexual harassment in the organisation.

Sexual harassment cases have risen among nifty 50 companies with two third of them disclosing a total 525 complaints at year ending March 2016, an increase of 26% over the previous year. Information Technology and Banking companies constitute over the 80% of the total since more women working there. 

It is a healthy sign that organisations are willing to come forward and share such details to public. It means they are ready to solve this problem. Still, there are countless number of harassment happening every year. If that actually recorded, above companies may not be in the list at all. It is not properly recorded in the Hospital, Hospitality, Garment and Apparel Industries where more women are employed. 

Sexual harassment is defined as unwelcome sexual attempt, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature towards women. She can refuse such conduct and complain. 

The biggest concern is that they are aware but don’t know how to voice when they experience it. The first thing to do is speak up or better type it up to communicate. If someone made you feel uncomfortable, the first person to speak to about it is the co-worker who made you feel that way. It’ll be awkward, but there’s a possibility he or she doesn’t realize the error and the issue can be squashed. Just make sure to have this conversation in writing.
