One in four car accidents caused by cell phone use while driving, but only five percent on texting

• About 1.3million accidents or 26 per cent of all pileups are blamed on drivers using cell phones
• The number is up about one percent from last year
• Only five percent of all accidents are based on texting while driving

Cell phone use while driving is at least a contributing factor to more than one-in-four car accidents across the country. A recent study suggests that 26 percent of all car accidents were caused by a driver using a cell phone, but remarkably attributed only five per cent to texting while driving.

Rather than mechanical, its human factor that contribute significantly to increasing number of road accidents in India. Drunken driving, over speeding, refusal to follow traffic rules and reckless driving are main reasons for road accidents.

Every year nearly 1.4 million people have been killed because of they are wireless customers and their over-bearing cell phones. While in India, an estimated 1.35 lakhs people die due to road accident in 2015, which is approximately 10% of road accident fatalities worldwide and these figures are the highest in the world. It is also gradually increasing because there are no strict measures or law to prevent it. 

Accidents are some one's fault. Don't let them be yours. Follow traffic rules, ride safe, cherish every moment with your family by avoiding few doable things like putting your cell phone in silent while driving. It is due to irresponsible behaviour of using mobile while driving, other people die on the roads. 

What to do, Switch off your mobile phone or put it in silent mode while driving. Even you see the most important coming while driving, remember the people who are travelling like you in the road. Remember their life; definitely the value of the phone call is lesser than that. Drive safe, allow others to reach home safe.
